Sony’s DualSense Edge controller is receiving a rare $30 discount

Sony might have just recently introduced a new low price on the PlayStation 5 Pro with its latest Days of Play sale , but that’s not the only deal worth your attention. Sony is also offering a range of accessories at a discount, including the high-end DualSense Edge . Regularly $199.99, the customizable controller is available from Amazon , Best Buy , and Sony for an all-time low of $169 through June 11th.  If you’re looking for a highly customizable controller, the Edge is a great option that offers excellent software integration with the PS5. The premium gamepad lets you effortlessly switch between up to four personalized profiles, each of which lets you customize things like stick sensitivity and rear button controls. It’s just as easy to swap out stick modules, too, allowing you to quickly replace the stick tops should they ever wear out. What’s more, the rear triggers feature adjustable stops, so you can control how far they can be pressed and fine-tune your response time ...

The Switch 2’s promising start hides an uncertain future

With the Switch 2 launch days away, analysts and consumers are watching to see how well Nintendo can follow-up the best selling home console in its history. Judging from the pain of trying to secure a Switch 2 pre-order , it seems like Nintendo has nothing to worry about - at least at launch. Down the line, however, concerns about tariffs, a steadily rising cost of living, and a saturated market might cast a shadow on the Switch 2. The Verge talked to analysts, journalists, and normal video game playing people to put the Switch 2 launch in perspective. The key takeaway? While the console will assuredly have another blockbuster debut, its future looks much less certain. The Wii U gets brought up a lot in the conversation surrounding the Switch 2, as it's the most famous example of a Nintendo failure. "The Wii U, with its confusing controller-screen gimmick, sluggish user interface, and lack of a great Custom Robo game, was one of Nintendo's worst flops," GameFile ...

Playdate’s second season is off to a great (and very weird) start

A lot of games have been released for the Playdate since it launched in 2022 , as a quick browse of itch.io or the Catalog shop will attest. But still, there's something unique about the handheld's seasonal format, which just kicked off its second iteration. When it first launched, the Playdate came with 24 games from notable indie developers that were steadily released on a weekly cadence, making a perfect introduction to the little yellow device and its crank. Now, a few years later, we finally have season 2, and it's off to a solid start - and it even includes a bizarre mystery. The new season runs for the next six weeks and totals a dozen games, two of which will drop each week. The entire collection will run you $39 . To start, we have a pair of very different games. Fulcrum Defender , from FTL: Faster Than Light developer Subset Games, is sort of like a modern take on Asteroids . You control a little ship in the middle and fire guns at little squares flying towa...

Nintendo’s Switch era took Pokémon collecting to the next level

Though the first Nintendo Switch era of Pokémon games was undeniably rocky at times, it brought the series' trading and organization systems into a new level of maturity. It wasn't always easy to complete Pokédexes in remakes like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and new entries like Sword and Shield . But those games helped The Pokémon Company create a more seamless way to move your monsters from one title to another, or swap them with friends. And with the Pokémon franchise about to make its big debut on the Switch 2 with the cross-generation game Pokémon Legends: Z-A , it feels like The Pokémon Company is getting ready to take the trading system to the next level. In the Pokémon games, filling up your Pokédex has always been an exercise in patience, planning, and understanding that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company want you trading with other players rather than trying to catch 'em all on your own. The games' trading mechanics evolved as the series jumped ...

SEC drops Binance lawsuit in yet another gift to crypto

Two years after legal proceedings began, the SEC has formally dropped its lawsuit against Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange. It was one of the US government’s final ongoing actions against crypto companies. Lawyers for the SEC and Binance jointly moved to dismiss the case in a filing on Thursday. It follows a 60-day pause requested by both parties in February. The case has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning the SEC can’t pursue it again. “We’re deeply grateful to [SEC] Chairman Paul Atkins and the Trump administration for recognizing that innovation can’t thrive under regulation by enforcement,” Binance told Reuters in a statement, calling the dismissal “a landmark moment.” The SEC sued Binance in 2023 , accusing it, and founder Changpeng Zhao, of operating an illegal exchange in the US and defrauding investors, along with a string of other offenses. Binance settled a separate case with the Department of Justice in 2023, which saw the company agree to pay $4.3 bill...

RFK Jr.’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ report seems riddled with AI slop

The White House says a “formatting issue” was behind the citation errors. | Image: Demetrius Freeman / Getty Images There are some questionable sources underpinning Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s controversial “Make America Healthy Again” commission report. Signs point to AI tomfoolery, and the use of ChatGPT specifically, which calls into question the veracity of the White House report meant to address reasons for the decline in US life expectancy. An investigation by NOTUS found dozens of errors in the MAHA report, including broken links, wrong issue numbers, and missing or incorrect authors. Some studies were misstated to back up the report’s conclusions, or more damningly, didn’t exist at all. At least seven of the cited sources were entirely fictitious, according to NOTUS. Another investigation by The Washington Post found that at least 37 of the 522 citations appeared multiple times throughout the report. Notably, the URLs of several references included “oaicite,” a marker that O...

Disney Plus’ new ‘Perks’ pile on discounts and other bonuses

Disney Plus and Hulu are both launching new Perks programs that offer subscribers discounts, digital freebies, and sweepstakes in an effort to stand out from the streaming competition. The Disney Plus Perks program is available now in the US, with an international rollout planned later this year. Offers include a six-month DashPass membership from DoorDash, discounted stays at Walt Disney World, and savings when you shop from Adidas or Funko, along with rotating contests. Hulu is launching its own loyalty scheme on June 2nd. Details on that are still to come, but it will include offers from companies including Microsoft, Pure Green, and LG, with new perks dropping weekly over the summer. To take advantage of the perks you simply have to be a subscriber to either streaming service, and you’ll get access to both programs if you subscribe to one of the company’s Disney Plus and Hulu bundle plans. Disney Plus first introduced Perks last year with a handful of contests and early acces...

Gemini can now watch Google Drive videos for you

Google’s latest Drive features can give Workspace users more information about the videos they’ve saved. A Gemini AI feature that summarizes documents and PDFs in Google Drive is now expanding to video files , allowing users to gain insights about what’s in the video without having to watch it themselves. The Gemini in Drive feature provides a familiar chatbot interface that can provide quick summaries describing the footage or pull specific information. For example, users can ask Gemini to list action items mentioned in recorded meetings or highlight the biggest updates and new products in an announcement video, saving time spent on manually combing through and taking notes. The feature requires captions to be enabled for videos, and can be accessed using either Google Drive’s overlay previewer or a new browser tab window. It’s available in English for Google Workspace and Google One AI Premium users, and anyone who has previously purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons, th...

WhatsApp is working on an easier way to log out

WhatsApp is developing a solution for users to take a break from the messaging service without nuking their account data. A new “Logout [internal]” option spotted in the WhatsApp 2.25.17.37 beta release by Android Authority presents users with the choice to sign out on their primary WhatsApp device while either retaining or erasing their app data and preferences. For all intents and purposes, the only way that users can currently sign out of WhatsApp’s mobile app is to either wipe the app data from Android device settings or delete WhatsApp entirely on iOS. Linked devices running the web and desktop app versions of WhatsApp make it far easier by comparison, providing a clear log out button under the user profile. The new Logout button is located in WhatsApp’s user settings below the account deletion button. The “Erase all Data & preferences” option does exactly that, according to Android Authority , while the “Keep all Data & preferences” option is better for taking some te...

Hyundai’s new EV factory is teeming with robots — and wariness about the future

Driving a 2026 Ioniq 9 SUV around the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant in Georgia can feel like a victory lap for the South Korean automaker. Hyundai's electric flagship carves out room for three America-centric rows of seats, from a booming brand whose EVs and hybrids already make up one in every four US sales. Even better, the Ioniq 9 and smaller Ioniq 5 are emerging from a futuristic new factory in America, giving Hyundai a defensible bulwark against the tariffs and onshoring fervor of Donald Trump's administration. As I watch these electric SUVs roll off a surgically clean assembly line, Hyundai's opportunistic timing looms as large as the hulking robots that help build its cars. A tour of the $7.6 billion factory also underlines how many automakers are plowing ahead with long-laid EV plans, regardless of Category 5 Washington winds that threaten to blow away Joe Biden-era support for EV manufacturing, consumer tax credits, and public charging. Hyundai's oppor...

Apple’s DIY repair program now covers iPads

Apple is expanding its self-service repair program to cover a range of iPads, including mini, Air, and Pro models. The program opens tomorrow, at which point you’ll be able to order spare parts and repair kits for the Apple tablets. The program is mostly limited to the iPad models that Apple currently sells, including the A16-powered iPad, the iPad mini running the A17 Pro, and the M4-based iPad Pro. The M2 iPad Air is the only older model supported, along with the current M3 versions of that tablet.  Apple hasn’t yet announced prices for the repair kits and components, which will include displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports, along with rentable tool kits to carry out the work. iPhone parts range from $69 to $119 for a battery, while displays cost $129 to $379, and iPad parts are likely to cost more. The Self Service Repair program launched in 2022 , initially covering only iPhones, though has since expanded to include select Macs, MacBooks, and the Studio Display...

Microsoft wants Windows Update to handle all apps

Microsoft is starting to open Windows Update up to any third-party app that needs to be updated. The software giant is now allowing developers to sign up for a private preview of what it calls the Windows Update orchestration platform, that will enable Windows Update to support any update for apps or drivers in the future. It’s focused largely on business apps, but it will be open to any apps or management tools. Windows Update is largely used to update the core parts of Windows right now, alongside key drivers for devices and even install some third-party management apps for peripherals. “We’re building a vision for a unified, intelligent update orchestration platform capable of supporting any update (apps, drivers, etc.) to be orchestrated alongside Windows updates,” explains Angie Chen , a product manager at Microsoft. Most apps on Windows are updated independently, using update mechanisms that developers have created themselves. Microsoft’s new Windows Update orchestration platf...

Samsung’s One UI 8 beta arrives on Galaxy S25 phones

One UI 8 includes updates to Quick Share and the Reminder app. Samsung has launched its beta test of One UI 8, the company’s customized take on Android 16. The beta is available now on the Galaxy S25, Plus, and Ultra — though strangely not the new S25 Edge — for users in the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea. Unsurprisingly, Samsung is emphasizing the OS update’s AI features, which purportedly include improved multimodal capabilities and more personalization. Despite that, the company’s announcement and update changelog are light on specific details of AI upgrades beyond speed improvements that make AI Select immediate to use, eliminating the previous start-up delay.  One UI 8 has also been “optimized for the unique form factors across the Galaxy product portfolio,” echoing Google’s emphasis on Android 16 improving performance and user experience on tablets and foldables. One such change is a new split-screen option to move one app partially off the screen to the edge while...

Shein’s ‘fake discounts’ break the law, EU says

The European Union has warned Shein that several of its practices violate EU consumer protection law, including by offering “fake discounts” and pressuring customers into completing purchases with phony deadlines. On Monday, the EU’s Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network said the fast-fashion retailer needs to bring its practices in line with the law, or else face a fine. In addition to showing price reductions that don’t accurately reflect a product’s previous price, the investigation by the CPC found that Shein uses “deceptive” product labels to trick users into thinking an item comes with special characteristics when “the relevant feature is required by law.” The investigation also found that Shein shows “false or deceptive” sustainability claims, as well as “incomplete and incorrect” information about a customer’s rights to return goods and get refunds. The EU says Shein hides its contact information, making it difficult for customers to get in touch with the company. ...

Inside the Meta monopoly trial

Meta has a well-earned reputation as the fastest follower in tech. Did your startup launch a cool feature that people like? Before you can say "Series B," Meta will have built something eerily similar, embedded it into its vastly more popular platforms, and eaten your lunch. This probably isn't how CEO Mark Zuckerberg would like to see his empire, but it's genuinely an asset; few companies have done as good a job of identifying and jumping on trends. Sometimes, though, jumping on trends means spending billions to acquire Instagram and WhatsApp. And sometimes that lands you in an antitrust trial against the FTC . Over the last several weeks, in a courtroom in DC, executives and experts have been asked whether Meta bought those companies and helped them achieve greatness , or bought them to prevent them from doing so . Which argument Judge James Boasberg ultimately believes will have huge ramifications for the whole industry. On this episode of The Vergecast , T...

OnePlus’ new ‘small’ phone isn’t coming to the US, but its AI features are

The India-only OnePlus 13S (pictured) comes with some goodies that global OnePlus users will eventually benefit from. While the latest phone in the OnePlus 13 lineup is exclusive to India, the AI features that it comes with will be making their way to US users. The most notable is Plus Mind, which allows users to easily save information to a dedicated “Mind Space” instead of manually logging important dates or appointments. Schedules, reservations, event information, and other data can be extracted from images or text and then automatically added to a user’s calendar, and then it can be quickly retrieved later using OnePlus’ AI search feature. OnePlus says a new Plus Mind feature will be rolling out “later this year,” which will automatically categorize saved information to help improve organization. Plus Mind will initially be available on the compact OnePlus 13S that’s launching in India on June 5th, a variant of the 13T that was recently released in China . Both phones, which a...

Tapo’s new $70 budget smart lock is packed with features

There are multiple ways to unlock the Tapo DL100 smart door lock, but it lacks a fingerprint or palm reader. | Image: TP-Link TP-Link has announced a new budget-friendly electronic door lock joining its Tapo smart home line that’s launching today for $69.99. Despite the entry-level pricing, the new Tapo DL100 Smart Deadbolt Door Lock offers multiple unlocking methods including a keypad, a physical key, the Tapo mobile app, or voice commands used through smart assistants like Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. The Tapo DL100 is about $10 cheaper than the Wyze Lock Bolt which we selected as the best budget smart lock in our buyer’s guide . The new Tapo doesn’t offer the convenience of a fingerprint scanner like the Lock Bolt, but it does come with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Wyze’s budget option is Bluetooth only unless you pair it with the company’s video doorbell. With Wi-Fi turned on, TP-Link estimates the new Tapo DL100 will run for up to seven months on a set ...

How to scan documents using your iPhone

Converting paper documents into digital formats means you've got backups of your paperwork should you ever need them. It can also help you clear out a substantial amount of clutter from your home or office - perhaps a whole filing cabinet's worth. It's now easier than ever to scan documents using today's phones - a large flatbed scanner is no longer needed as it was in the past. Receipts, business cards, bills, and any other kind of printed material can be stored digitally. If you've got an iPhone, you can do this straight from the built-in Notes or Files apps. If those don't quite give you the features you need, there are third-party alternatives that will do the job as well. Scan documents with Notes or Files The process of scanning a document is similar in both Notes and Files. To get started in Notes, open or create a note, then tap the paperclip icon at the bottom, then Scan Documents . In Files, tap the three dots (top right), then Scan Documents ...

How I shorted $TRUMP coin (and got to have dinner with the President)

Last month, Donald Trump pushed the boundaries of government and financial ethics by announcing a contest: whoever bought and held the highest amount of the $TRUMP meme coin for an entire month would win an invite to a private dinner with the President. That dinner took place on Thursday at the Trump National Golf Course in Virginia, with attendees reportedly dropping nearly $394 million on $TRUMP in order to win the privilege. According to an analysis by The Guardian of the winners' wallets, over half of them lost money participating in this contest. But that's only if you're analyzing the wallets visible on the contest site's leaderboard. The real money was being made elsewhere. "Bet you 10 percent of dinner participants are doing this" I interviewed an enthusiastic crypto trader who figured out how to win the contest without losing any money: buy enough $TRUMP to get onto the leaderboard - and then in a separate wallet on a separate exchange, buy ...

Nick Clegg says asking artists for use permission would ‘kill’ the AI industry

As policy makers in the UK weigh how to regulate the AI industry, Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister and former Meta executive, claimed a push for artist consent would “basically kill” the AI industry. Speaking at an event promoting his new book, Clegg said the creative community should have the right to opt out of having their work used to train AI models. But he claimed it wasn’t feasible to ask for consent before ingesting their work first. “I think the creative community wants to go a step further,” Clegg said according to The Times . “Quite a lot of voices say, ‘You can only train on my content, [if you] first ask’. And I have to say that strikes me as somewhat implausible because these systems train on vast amounts of data.” “I just don’t know how you go around, asking everyone first. I just don’t see how that would work,” Clegg said. “And by the way if you did it in Britain and no one else did it, you would basically kill the AI industry in this country ov...

Nintendo’s bold new era is full of safe bets

Nintendo is entering a new era. While most everyone associates the company with video games, for the last few years the brand behind Mario has been steadily expanding itself into something much larger. "I think people view Nintendo as a gaming company, but we have always thought of ourselves as an entertainment company," Nintendo's senior managing executive officer, Shinya Takahashi, told me in 2023 . Design legend Shigeru Miyamoto echoed the same idea at the opening of Nintendo's first museum last year . "What I wanted to express with this museum is that we are first and foremost an entertainment company," he said. To that end, Nintendo has entered into new areas like theme parks and Hollywood films. At the same time, it's now attempting to maintain its foothold in games with the launch of the Switch 2 , a follow-up to its most successful home console to date. Each of these moves is a bold bet designed to broaden Nintendo's scope - but each one d...

Real-world map data is helping make better games about farms and transportation

City Bus Manager. I'm feeling a strange sense of pressure as I set up my first bus route in City Bus Manager . I want to get things right for the public transportation users of this city, probably because it's the city I actually live in. City Bus Manager uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) data to populate its maps, so I can see all the familiar streets and points of interest laid out in front of me. These are my neighbors, who, like me, want an efficient transit service. I want to be able to provide it to them - even if only in a simulation. City Bus Manager is part of a small group of management sims that are using OSM's community-generated database to make the whole world their game setting. Other examples include Global Farmer , NIMBY Rails , and Logistical: Earth . In these games, players can build farms, railways, or delivery networks all over the globe, using data about real fields, settlements, and infrastructure to inform their decisions. When the idea of using OSM wa...

The Newark airport crisis is about to become everyone’s problem

There are too many planes in the sky. In 2024, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supervised nearly 16.8 million flights in American airspace - half a million more than the year prior. To manage all of those airplanes, however, the FAA uses an air traffic control system designed in the early 1990s - when features like trackballs and color monitors were new, and air traffic controllers handled less than half as many flights every year . Like many government agencies, the FAA has faced chronic budget constraints and poor oversight in the ensuing two decades. Not only is its system functionally obsolete; it's also badly understaffed. Too often, the agency must scramble to find the least-bad solution for its mounting problems - and not all of these solutions are good or even safe . One such scenario has been unfolding at Newark Liberty International Airport for the last year. And it hasn't just created delays and cancellations - it has put people's safety at risk. ...

(If you're new here, welcome, so psyched you found us, and also you can read all the old editions at the Installer homepage .) I also have for you a new blockbuster movie, an old-new blockbuster mobile game, a new season of one of my all-time favorite shows, a cheap set-top box worth a look, and much more. Shockingly busy week! Let's dig in. (As always, the best part of Installer is your ideas and tips. What are ...

Meta’s antitrust defense wraps with one big claim: WhatsApp and Instagram couldn’t be better

For five weeks, the Federal Trade Commission asked a federal judge to imagine a world where Instagram and WhatsApp flourished outside Meta's control instead of being acquired by the tech giant. In the sixth and final week of trial, Meta asked Judge James Boasberg to consider that actually, these apps might be as good as they can get. Meta rested its case Wednesday after a brief four days in court (many of its witnesses were also called by the FTC, so it already had the chance to question them in prior weeks). In those final days, Meta called on WhatsApp cofounder Brian Acton and an early Instagram infrastructure executive to explain how Meta helped those apps grow in ways they'd be unlikely to otherwise - countering testimony from Instagram cofounder Kevin Systrom , who claimed Meta withheld resources to help the app grow and become safer, and believed Instagram would have still been a hit on its own. Meta argues that far from becoming competitors that checked Meta's po...

Twelve South’s sturdy HiRise 3 Deluxe is a great 3-in-1 charging stand for a number of reasons. X is down

Elon Musk’s X appears to be in the midst of a significant outage. Feeds aren’t loading, and reports indicate that neither are DMs. A quick check of Down Detector shows a spike in reports that appeared to start shortly after 8AM ET and rise sharply. Reports seem to be leveling leveling off. Elsewhere on social media, people have already been complaining about issues with the network for a couple of days, though — one of the top posts on the r/Twitter Reddit community is a screenshot of an error message on the X login screen, with many replies saying they’re unable to log in. The outage comes after a fire broke out in an Oregon data center owned by X on Thursday morning. Wired writes that multiple unnamed sources told it that the fire, which forced “an extended response from emergency crews,” involved batteries in one of the data center’s rooms. Following reports of the fire, there were complaints that the site was down, but the outage then was apparently relatively small. It’s no...

Last Defense Academy makes confusion part of the fun

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy starts off by asking a simple question: what happens when you pluck a handful of colorful teenagers from their homes, plop them in a state-of-the-art school filled with every convenience, then force them to fight for their lives? Your guide as you navigate this question is an unsettling and creepy-cute mascot that knows more than it's let on, and there's an overarching mystery to the world that you can't quite put your finger on. If you, like I, answered " Danganronpa !" - as this premise sounds very much like the plot of the quirky and irreverent murder-mystery series from Spike Chunsoft - then congratulations! We're both totally wrong! And after 45 in-game days with LDA, I still have no idea what's going on, and I love it. I'm going to be gentle with myself and you for thinking LDA is another entry in the genre of high school-themed killing games. After all, it was developed by Kazutaka Kodaka, creator and...

Google’s Veo 3 AI video generator is a slop monger’s dream

These boots were not made for walking, but you can use AI to make them do it anyway. Even at first glance, there's something off about the body on the street. The white sheet it's under is a little too clean, and the officers' movements are totally devoid of purpose. "We need to clear the street," one of them says with a firm hand gesture, though her lips don't move. It's AI, alright. But here's the kicker: my prompt didn't include any dialogue. Veo 3, Google's new AI video generation model, added that line all on its own. Over the past 24 hours I've created a dozen clips depicting news reports, disasters, and goofy cartoon cats with convincing audio - some of which the model invented all on its own. It's more than a little creepy and way more sophisticated than I had imagined. And while I don't think it's going to propel us to a misinformation doomsday just yet, Veo 3 strikes me as an absolute AI slop machine. AI generate...

OpenAI and Jony Ive’s AI super-gadget

Here's what we know: it's probably not smart glasses. Beyond that, we don't know much about what Jony Ive and OpenAI are building through their newly combined company io, except that it's some kind of AI super-gadget. But after a couple of years of watching the industry try and shove AI into every form factor you can imagine, we have some guesses. On this episode of The Vergecast , Nilay and David are joined by The Verge 's Alex Heath to talk through all the things we know, kind of know, and don't know at all about what io is up to. There's some interesting reporting on the notion of the device as a companion to your phone and laptop, some connections to the original iPod Shuffle , and still a lot of questions about how this will work and whether you'll want it. We won't see this device for a while, but don't worry - we'll surely keep talking about it. After that, the hosts run down all the news from Google I/O , which both Alex an...

Glitch is basically shutting down

Glitch, the coding platform where developers can share and remix projects, will soon no longer offer its core feature: hosting apps on the web. In an update on Thursday , Glitch CEO Anil Dash said it will stop hosting projects and close user profiles on July 8th, 2025 — but stopped short of saying that it’s shutting down completely. Users will be able to access their dashboard and download code for their projects through the end of 2025, and Glitch is working on a new feature that allows users to redirect their project subdomains. The platform has also stopped taking new Pro subscriptions, but it will continue to honor existing subscriptions until July 8th. Without these key features, it’s not clear what will be left of Glitch. When The Verge reached out to Dash for clarification, he said the dashboard, app redirects, and code download tools are the “only user features that we’ve confirmed availability” for after July 8th. “Anything else that we would have to share would come in a ...

Trump threatens Apple with a 25 percent iPhone tariff

President Donald Trump has threatened Apple with a tariff of “at least 25 percent” just for its iPhones unless it moves production to the United States. “I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else,” Trump wrote on Truth Social . “If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank your for your attention to this matter!” The threat comes a week after Trump declared that he’d “had a little problem with Tim Cook,” following reports that Apple intends to source all of its US iPhones from India , which will require ramping up Indian production. Just yesterday the Financial Times reported that FoxConn, Apple’s main manufacturer, is developing a $1.5 billion plant in southern India’s Chennai to supply iPhone displays. Apple has been diversifying its production for several years, which was ac...

Nike returns to Amazon after a six-year hiatus

After a six year absence, Nike will soon begin selling products directly on Amazon, having previously stopped in 2019 to go it alone. At the same time, the company is reportedly set to increase prices across most of its sneakers and other clothes in the wake of recent US tariffs. Nike stopped selling through Amazon after just two years on the platform, blaming the decision to end sales on Amazon’s inability to crack down on counterfeiters and unlicensed sellers. Just as pivotal was its desire to build its own direct-to-consumer sales platforms in the Nike app and website, which saw it reduce its other retail partners around the same time. Nike goods have continued to appear on Amazon in the years since, but only sold by third-party sellers on the platform. According to The Information those merchants have been told that they have until July 19th to stop selling certain Nike products. “While independent sellers have listed some Nike inventory in our store for many years, Amazon wi...

Switchbot’s latest lock can unlock with a look

SwitchBot’s new keypad has built-in facial recognition.
